9191 Sugarstone Circle
Highlands Ranch, CO 80130
The land on which the ranch was originally built was purchased for $700 in 1879. In addition to the economic aspects of the Cheese Ranch, it played and additional role as a popular social center for both the local residence and people from Denver. Young and old would ride to the ranch on occasion, drink their favorite beverage and enjoy the delicious cheeses made there. John Welte’s unique dairying and farming techniques were recognized in a farming magazine entitled The Scientific Farmer.
Today along with the windmill there is a community garden and fishing pond.
